Welcome to the Annual 34th NES-Congress at Vildmarkshotellet October 1st - 3rd 2002!

New technology, new forms of organizing work and globalization of networks contribute to humans experiencing their work environment more complex. Therefore ergonomic issues of work become more and more important. This conference aims at bringing researchers and practitioners together to discuss research findings and implications concerning innovation, integration, and implementation in formally arranged sessions. There will be space for spontaneous informal meetings between participants all over the conference site. Introductory overviews to the main themes will be held by keynote-speakers and session chair persons.

The Swedish Ergonomic Society would therefore like to encourage you to consider giving a presentation that is of relevance to ergonomics in its broader sense. Among the themes planned for the conference are today's computerised work life, prevention and rehabilitation, quality, safety and design, and drivers' work situation. Further, we would welcome the presentation of research results, short overviews on specific topics, on development project or papers dealing with practical experiences. We hope and expect to see an increased participation also from European countries outside Scandinavia. The Congress will therefore welcome papers in a Scandinavian language as well as in English.

It is the pleasure of the Ergonomics Society of Sweden to host the annual 34th NES Congress at Vildmarkshotellet October 1st to 3rd, 2002. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all those with an interest in ergonomics. To ensure a relaxed communcation between participants -researchers and practitioners - we have chosen the pleasant surroundings of Wildmarkshotellet in Östergötland in the South of Sweden, conveniently close to the cities of Norrköping and Linköping.

Submission of abstracts: Februari 15th, 2002
Last day for reduced Registration fee: May 2002

Post congress arrangements
Post congress visits are planned to our laboratories for visual ergonomics and virtual reality at the University of Linköping.

Vildmarkshotellet - conference "on the rocks"
Vildmarkshotellet, a hotel and conference center, is located above the fjord Bråviken which is part of the coast line of Östergötland, a lovely area in the southeastern part of Sweden. This location above the fjord Bråviken enables a unique view over the fjord and the landscape of Östergötland.

Vildmarkshotellet offers conference and hotel facilities for up to 400 participants. The hotel and conference complex supports the idea of an intensive conference together with facilities for social activities closeby, thus enabling discussions and dialogue even during evening hours.

A trainstation nearby the hotel offers train connections to diverse Swedish cities and airports, such as Arlanda Airport, north of Stockholm. Other closer airports are Skavsta and Norrköping airport. Shuttles from the train will be arranged by the hotel. Car drivers can take the freeway E4, the main road between Copenhagen and Stockholm, which passes the conference center not too far away.

Close to Vildmarkshotellet is Kolmården Zoo, a famous animal park, which offers lots of activities, especially for families. Among the zoo's attractions is a famous dolphin show. Other interesting sites of cultural or leisure value can be reached within an hour drive.
